Keen Halloween Convention (Kid Friendly!)

Keen Halloween is just 12 days away! Wondering what I’m so excited about? It’s a Halloween Maker Faire where you can shop the Monster Market for artsy products, attend craft Workshops, enjoy spooky Entertainment and more! I’ve roped my husband Anthony into participating with me so come see us Saturday, September 29, 2012 at The New School for the Arts & Academics (NSAA), 1216 E. Apache Boulevard Tempe, Arizona 85281. The whole event is from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. but here’s our schedule:

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – my DIY Poison Apple Crate Craft Workshop! Read a short story by yours truly and check out all the details here: http://www.keenhalloween.com/workshop-poison-apple-crate/

5:30 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.- Iron Skull Competition, in which Anthony and I would love to have your support as our team tries to assemble the best costume out of random materials.

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Anthony and I will be working at the Evil Genius Costume Bar where we’ll offer costume ideas, advice and inspiration along with other experts.

Everything is included with the price of admission, which is a steal: adults are $7 online and $10 at the door, kids under 12 are free!

Pottery Barn Kids Bedroom Art

Here’s my 3D, cut paper French poodle made for a little girl who adores puppies and wanted something to match her Paris Toile bedding from www.PotteryBarnKids.com. Her name is Gigi and she is made of scrapbook paper with colored pencil shading to make her fur look as fluffy as cotton candy, watercolor paper and acrylic paint for her facial features. I glued a thin layer of cardboard between pieces to give her a little dimension…

Easter Chic Photo Shoot

Here are the photos taken of Superboy just before Easter with Locke Photography’s cute little chics! This was just a mini-shoot but I still had a lot of fun with the styling. I made a boutonniere out of feathers and newspaper and a cut paper “Happy Easter” sign using the old chalk board my Grandparent’s brought back from Portugal when I was a kid. I used newspaper shred for a simple Easter basket and to make bow ties for both Superboy and his bunny.

Those little chics were so sweet…Superboy didn’t want to say goodbye!

Pop Top Craft Preview

Here are some photos of a bracelet from my collection of Pop Top Crafts taken by the amazing Jay Reilly:

I have tons of accessories made like this including belts, earrings and necklaces that I’ve written DIY instructions for. Jay is kindly photographing them for my new Etsy shop…I’ll announce the opening here when it is ready!

Arizona Maternity Photo Styling

Here’s a maternity photo shoot I worked on with Brittney Williams (I did the styling and she, as always, did the beautiful photography). This first photograph is of the tent I put together for the Mommy and Daddy-to-be under the Pecan trees…

and here is the cut paper doll chain I made of them and their baby girl…

and the clothes line I put together…not even born and this kid already had an amazing wardrobe!

And last is one of Daddy reading my 1977 A Book of Fairy Tales to the baby bump.
