Cut Paper Self Portrait

Attempted my first cut paper self portrait and here is the result…

All of the pieces were hand cut from scrapbook and watercolor paper except for the brown pupils and the white catchlights for which I used hole punches. The end result includes some text and is now on the homepage of MindiLeatham.com

One of my resolutions for the new year is to improve my backgrounds and graphic design elements so I hope this was a step in that direction. What’d’ya think? Does it look like me?

More Rainbow Paper Butterfly Art

Update 3.7.13: DIY directions with free templates now available at http://www.mindileatham.com/diy-crafts-paper-butterfly-punch-art/!

Here are some more of the different paper butterfly punch pieces I’ve been making with scrapbook paper in all different colors, patterns and textures that are now for sale in my Etsy shop at http://www.MindiLeatham.etsy.com. They come in easy to hang black wood frames that I distressed (outside dimensions: 19″ x 23″). Thanks again to Brittney Williams for doing a beautiful job with the photos!

These can be made in any color combination for any room in the house. Here are two made in a gradient including yellows, greens, blues, purples, browns, gray and black:

I bent the wings up off the paper so that it looks as if these little butterflies are resting for a moment and will soon take flight. Glass is not included to enhance the 3D effect.

Here’s a close up of the rainbow one I made that included all the primary and secondary colors:

And here’s one in shades of yellow, orange and pink:

Hello Kitty Mermaid Art in 3-D Cut Paper

Hello Kitty as my favorite mythological creature! She’s currently framed in my office next to her sister. She’s all hand cut scrapbook paper with foam board in between her layers to make her 3-D. I bent some of the paper to give it a rounded effect before I glued it together.

Frog Sketch

Working on some 3D, cut paper Harry Potter projects that I’m really excited about! I’ll post them here soon but in the meantime here are some more sketches of frogs…Chocolate Frogs, of course 😉
